In cooperation with University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE) and Hamburg Network for Health Services Research (HAM-NET) OptiMedis AG is organizing a conference on „Value-based Healthcare for Regions“ on 1 June. The conference ist part of Petersburg Dialogue Working Group Healthcare.
Value-based health care claims to deliver a health care that is beneficial to (i.e. „value“) both for patients and society and aims at measuring this effect. This conference aims at an advancement of this concept with a strong focus on population-oriented medical pathways. Medicine may no longer provide the best possible treatment when it comes to illness. Optimal health care will be more responsible for a population-based promotion of health competencies in order to prevent diseases and chronification processes as well as to strengthen involvement of patients in care processes. Regional entities provide a favorable basis for these improvements: similar circumstances of living, a manageable number of clinicians and other medical professions, as well as medical institutions, communities as elected bodies enable the most effective interventions.
Central conference issues
- How do the concepts of “value-based healthcare” and “population health management” fit to the needs of urban settings?
- What kind of care and prevention models may improve the functional and mental health status and reduce the burden of disease of people especially in poorer city districts?
- What contributions can be made by universities, clinicians, primary health care, social associations etc. to achieve improved health in defined populations?
- Which statistical information (social & health data) are required to provide the necessary information to design value-based healthcare at regional levels?
- What is required to achieve a maximum of outcome for patients with a minimum of input?
